Updating Apple Applications Through Lion
Mac users are accustomed to updating their software when reminded by the operating system's automatic update software. However, this changes with the introduction of OS X Lion. Users will still be alerted about certain software updates through "Software Update", including operating system revisions, iTunes and security updates. Those software products now available to be purchased through the App Store will be updated only through the App Store. If you are using OS X 10.6.6 or later, the App Store icon will be present in your Dock, through the icon shown above. If there are updates available for your installed Apple Apps, you will see a small red circle in the upper right had corner of the App icon. Click on the icon in the Dock and you will be guided through the update process. You may be asked for your Apple user ID and password during this process.
